Mikhail is a Partner & Associate Director in the BCG Johannesburg office and BCG’s Climate & Sustainability Practice and a global expert on batteries and sustainable energy. He joined BCG after co-founding Bushveld Energy where, as CEO, he built battery component facilities, invested in battery manufacturing and deployed BESS and renewable energy projects. Mikhail has extensive experience in the consulting industry and has co-authored various thought pieces on energy topics including, “Brighter Africa: the growth potential of the sub-Saharan electricity sector” (2015). He has also advised national governments, utilities and manufacturers on growth strategy & policy and ed operational turnarounds in the power sector. He is a board member of the South Africa Energy Storage Association (he was formerly the Chairman for 6 years), a former board member of CellCube (Austria) and Bushveld Electrolyte Company (South Africa) and the ex-Chair of the Energy Storage Committee of Vanitec, the global association of vanadium producers. Mikhail has a MBA from INSEAD (France), an Economics Diploma from the London School of Economics (UK) and two BA degrees in History and in Economics from the University of Massachusetts (USA).
