Evan Rice

Evan Rice serves as CEO of Etana Energy, a renewable electricity trader that helps businesses access clean power through an innovative platform combining wind and solar projects. Backed by shareholders with over 1,900MW of operational renewable projects, Etana recently secured $100 million in guarantee financing from GuarantCo and British International Investment to unlock an estimated $500 million of new renewable energy development for South Africa. With nearly 20 years of energy and cleantech expertise, Evan has successfully scaled energy businesses across South Africa and Europe. At Tesla’s energy storage division (2017-2021), he significantly expanded EMEA operations from Business Development Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa to heading regional operations. He previously served as Managing Director of Locaso in Amsterdam, CEO of GreenCape, and held senior roles at Spinnaker Growth Partners and McKinsey & Company. Since returning to South Africa in 2023, Evan has positioned Etana as a key partner for major clients including Growthpoint Properties, V&A Waterfront and Petra Diamonds. He holds a BCom Honours from the University of the Witwatersrand.
